Mr. NK Mehta and Mrs. MF Dani Arts College, Malvan is affiliated with Shri Govind Guru University. The College was initially started for the graduation program. We have at present 5 subjects offered to students as Principal subjects. Functional English, Sanskrit, and Hindi are available to students only as subsidiary subjects. Thus, we have six subsidiary subjects. Besides, we have two compulsory Languages, and also one vocational course. In the system of Shri Govind Guru University, Godhra, affiliated colleges run only undergraduate courses while the University runs Post-graduate courses. However, the affiliated colleges are permitted to run Post-graduate centers. The teachers and students of under-graduate courses share the infrastructural facilities equally.
Our’s is a very old institution having a common library having a reference section with various Encyclopedia like Encyclopedia Americana, Encyclopedia Britannica, Encyclopedia Asiatica, Encyclopedia of Science and Technology, World History, Psychology, Islam, Religion and Ethics, Subject Dictionaries like Vedic Padanukarmani, Volumes of Bhagavadgomandala, The Oxford Classical Dictionary, Shakespeare Lexicon and , magazines and journals. In the library books are arranged systematically subject-wise that facilitate the teachers and students. We have got a good collection of rare books and manuscripts which is an additional facility to scholars and researchers. The teachers and students of our College use it for the enhancement of their knowledge.
Computers with internet facility in the separate room, and other common resources like Multi-media Projector, Overhead Projector, CD Player, Tape-Recorder are important additions in the learning resources of the College , during the last five years. All the teachers and students are trained to use these equipments .
Being an affiliated college, our institution is not free to develop the evaluation system independently. Continuous student assessment is done through internal assessment. There is 30 percent internal assessment and 70 percent external assessment. 20 marks are reserved for two terminal tests and the remaining 10 marks are for library work, classroom attendance as well as students’ participation in classroom activities. This helps in the continuous assessment of students’ comprehension as well as expression. Besides, classroom activities like paper presentation and group discussions also assess students’ knowledge indirectly, though not in terms of marks.
Though Arts College is not an institution for professional courses, we offer ‘Functional English Course’, a vocational course, at the undergraduate level as a first subsidiary subject, which equip the students with the required communication skills for pursuing different vocations. In Science faculty many well-known companies of region, such as “Panchmahal Dairy, come to the institution with the regular interval of time . In addition to this, we have Students’ Counselling Cell. The activities of this Centre are restricted only to the advising role of the teachers. The subject teachers informally familiarize students with various avenues open to them considering the potential of individual students and also provide useful counseling to them for various competitive examinations. Many entrepreneurs and professionals are extended invitations to guide our students.
